Affiliate disclosure guide

When you may earn a commission from a recommendation or link, tell your audience plainly where they will notice it. Use the language of the recommendation.

Keep the disclosure with the recommendation

Place it close to the recommendation or affiliate link, before people act on it. A profile biography, separate disclosure page or group of hashtags should not be the only explanation. A channel's built-in paid-partnership label can help, but still make the relationship clear in the content.

Social posts and images

Put the disclosure in the post or caption where it is visible without expanding a long message. If the recommendation is mainly in an image or story, add readable disclosure there too. Make the text large enough, give it enough contrast and leave it on screen long enough to read.

Videos and live streams

Disclose in the video, using spoken words and readable on-screen text so the relationship is clear with or without sound. Repeat the disclosure near an affiliate link in the description. In a live stream, repeat it periodically so viewers joining later can understand the relationship.

Websites, blogs and email

Use a clear disclosure alongside compensated recommendations and affiliate links. A general website policy can explain more but does not replace the nearby disclosure. Include the explanation in an email that contains a compensated recommendation.

Honest experience and accurate offers

Only describe personal experience you actually have. Do not fabricate reviews, endorsements, savings, product specifications or earnings. Verify product identity, availability, prices and offer dates before sharing a saved graphic. Do not promise that every purchase or subscription renewal earns commission.

Creative Studio and channel rules

Review every banner, card, QR code and link before publishing. Make sure the destination and affiliate identity are correct. A template does not prove current availability or remove your responsibility to disclose clearly. Follow the rules of the platform where you post and do not send spam.

Muncle Mikes owned Facebook posts do not include website links. If you publish for an MM-owned channel, follow that channel rule. Your own channels must also follow their applicable platform rules.

Program availability

Account approval and a generated link do not activate earning. Check your account before promoting. A separate Shopify Collabs offer does not promise a second commission from the owned program.
